Our Thunderhawks Cross Country Running Team competed at the OCAA Provincial Championships hosted by St. Lawrence College – Kingston Campus this past weekend. The venue is a dedicated cross country running site adjacent to one of Canada’s most recognized tourist attractions, Old Fort Henry.
Coach, John Garland accompanied the Men’s team comprising of veterans, Chris Morden (Paramedics) & Nathan La Brie (Aviation Flight Management) along with rookies, Edward Paibomsai (Business Accounting) and Ariah Robichaud (Electrical Engineering).
Our athletes ran the 8 km course well with Edward placing 14th (out of 86 runners) and was named a member of the 2nd All Star team. Both Nate and Chris improved on last year’s performance and Ariah was ahead of both of them in 43rd. place. The Thunderhawks finished 10th out of 14 registered institutions competing at the Championships.

Coach John Garland
Coach, John Garland has trained the Thunderhawks to compete in 21 (twenty-one) OCAA Provincial Cross Country Running Championships.
John definitely practices what he preaches having attained Provincial & National Champion Master Track titles as well successes in local road races. He has coached many local elite and recreational runners and as well as coaching our Thunderhawks, John is coach of the Lakehead Athletics Masters Running Club. John posses a Master Degree in Kinesiology from University of Western.
